  • » North Side Grocery. Worked with the North Side Grocery Store Committee to conduct a food survey assessing the dietary and consumer needs of North Side residents.
  • » Cooperative Grocery. Conducted informational and organizational outreach to establish a cooperative grocery in Binghamton.
  • COMMITTEE CURRENT ACTIVITY AND PRIORITIES
  • » The goal for 2010 is to continue to raise awareness about the unsustainable nature of our current food systems, to expand our network of partners, and to build the capacity of our community to create a food system that is socially just, economically viable, and environmentally sustainable.
  • » Continue ‘Food for Thought’ Film Series. We will continue to identify and screen important films that advocate for food systems that are sustainable, healthy and equitable.
  • » Commercial/Cooperative Kitchen. We are exploring with partners the option of establishing a commercial/ cooperative kitchen that will allow food producers and processors to process and package raw foods. This project would aim to integrate the growing interest and activity in community gardens with entrepreneurial training to develop our local capacity for food processing and distribution.
  • » Cooperative Grocery. We are continuing with informational and organizational efforts to set up a cooperatively run grocery, possibility in the downtown area, to meet the consumer and dietary needs of local residents.
